This link calendar probably won’t be especially applicable to the majority of sites in a designer’s portfolio, but when there’s a need for a calendar with simple and easily navigable links associated with different dates, having this extension around can be a great time saver. I’ve used this extension precisely once for a client who ran an events site, and though the calendar isn’t the picture of modern sleek design, it won raves. You can associate urls with given days and adjust the visual appearance of the days as well to offer a sort of information snapshot.
I’ve also played around with this feature on my own site, using it as a simple way to link photo album entries with different days during a vacation. I think it’s a nice way to get all the information for such a project in one spot without causing too much clutter. As is to be expected with this extension firm, there’s not a lot of steps involved in downloading and installing the utility, though of course you’ll need to use a server that supports ASP, and there’s a basic permissions set-up.
The price is fair for the level of sophistication involved, but this isn’t exactly a bare-bones sort of utility. Still, if you work with clients who like fun features like this or you’d like to tinker with the design on your own, it’s a pleasure to work with.
