Captchas are necessary for nearly all forms these days in order to cut down on completion by bots and spammers, and clients are likely to request a captcha feature whenever possible, often with different parameters and options. Rather than create a new captcha feature from scratch each time, I've been using Form Captcha to create personalized bot-blockers on my pages, with positive results.
This extension offers total control over the look, feel, and content of the captcha code itself, allowing for endless customization to match a page's design or a specific site's needs. From visual components like the dimensions of the captcha box to code and background colors and noise length to functional aspects such as the length of the captcha string and the amount of noise present, Form Captcha covers just about everything with a creation and modification dialog that is straightforward and simple.
You'll need a PHP extension for the page that processes the form, and of course, you'll also need PHP installed on your server, but these basic requirements should be easily attainable for the majority of uses. Captcha validation is added automatically, making the extension simple to use without much knowledge of how captchas operate, and there's no digging through files to make modifications every time a parameter is changed. Easily applicable to a number of sites, this extension is a worthy tool in any modern designer's Dreamweaver arsenal, and comes at a fair price considering its potential for widespread use.
