There are many ways to implement feedback systems on sites, and sometimes a full comment section isn't appropriate. In such instances, I think it's nice to have something visually appealing to let site visitors add their input, and to give design clients a valuable boost to their aesthetic profile. This extension creates a simple rating system based on five stars or smiley faces; site visitors can simply indicate the number of rating units they'd like to allocate to a site or a given chunk of content, and the input can then be sent to the server for a filter check or for a direct submission and on-site update (design clients tend to appreciate that filter option!).
I haven't had much success with making major customizations to the output on this extension, but then, I'm not a programmer. The extension uses AJAX and Javascript, but you don't need to be familiar with either of these technologies to insert the basic rating system on the site, and for most applications, I think it looks great. The rating system will calculate the number of votes submitted along with a dynamic “happiness level” indicator shown by the smiley faces.
This is a useful and affordable tool to add to your Dreamweaver extensions list, especially if you work with clients who create blogs or other frequently-updated bits of content. As with all of the extensions I've tried from this developer, download and installation are nice and smooth.
